   Cruise Travel - Millenium Cruise

by Joe Koshuta, TravelPage.com

December 26, 1999 - Holiday greetings, and welcome to what I hope will be an excellent adventure - in more ways than one.

When I first started planning this trip over a year ago, with the exception of it being the Millennium, I thought it would be like all the others. I would go on the trip, take notes, and post my review when I returned home. Then, a few months ago, I heard that some of the cruise lines had begun installing Internet connections on their cruise ships. Next I recieved a press release from Holland America telling me that when the ship we would be traveling on, the m/s Volendam, emerged from the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy she would be "wired" for Internet access.

Well, as someone who likes to be the first to do things - after all TravelPage.com has been around since early 1995, well before the likes of Expedia and Travelocity - I decided to try posting a review of our cruise in real-time. Instead of waiting until I get back, I will attempt to post regular updates to the web site from on board Holland America Line's m/s Volendam during her Millennium cruise.

If the gods of Internet connectivity are willing, I will share our experinces with you on a daily basis. We have a group of 21, spanning three generations, on board the Volendam so I hope to bring you a unique perspective on the Millennium celebration.
