She entered service in the summer of 2000. Her interiors include 12 passenger decks, named after movies directed by the famous Italian director, Federico Fellini. The ship interiors are colorful and reflect a traditional Italian style Costa is known for. There are a number of bars and lunges including the Coral ballroom, the Gran Bar, Madama Butterfly, plus a theater and a large fully equipped casino. One of the more intimate places on board is the Cafe Florian which is decorated in true barocchetto style (replica of the famed cafe'of St. Mark's place in Venice). The fitness center is large and offers sauna and roman bath at no extra charge. There are 3 large pools with jacuzzis and a tennis court. There is no walk-around promenade and the jogging track is limited.
The cuisine on board is good with many traditional Italian dishes( the menus are the same for the two itineraries in the Caribbeans). The buffets are fair to good with Mexican, Spanish, Caribbean specialties. There is also a special restaurant, the Club Atlantica (for an extra charge of $15), with menus created by Gualtiero Marchesi. The service is attentive and warm. The room service offers an ample choice.
The cabins are large and equipped with tv, safe, minibar, many with a large private balcony. The bathrooms are also large. The soundproofing is excellent. Keep in mind that the first category of outside cabins has obstructed views by the lifeboats.
