Review by Christopher E. Smith, TravelPage.com, Associate Cruise Editor
The MV MOZART is the winner and champion of Europe's large fleet of river boats. She's the largest, has cabins sized comparably with modern ocean going liners, exquisite decor, and amenities rarely associated with river boats, such as aan indoor pool, Jacuzzi and sauna/solarium. Add to her public spaces and cabins an outstanding crew, high quality food and service non pareil, a vacation on the MOZART is no less than five stars.
Each 203 square foot cabin, save three inside rooms, has either one large window or two smaller windows, beds that are configured as twins or a queen, a sitting area with loveseat, a TV, and good sized bathrooms with shower. Some cabins can be connected to form a two room suite. While motoring along the river, your time will pass pleasantly in any of the public rooms......the Cafe Amadeus, Don Giovanni Bar, the library, or the glassed in main Lounge. Extraordinary service and cuisine are the norm in the main restaurant. During a seven, ten or eleven night trip on the MOZART, should you desire to abandon the comfort of the vessel for a sightsee or two, no one would think you crazy. The seven day cruise, round trip from Passau, Germany (northeast of Munich and near the border of Austria) calls at Durnstein, Esztergom, and Grein along with the familiar cities: Budapest, Bratislava, Vienna and Melk.
If you have some extra days, consider the ten day trip from Passau all the way to Constanta on the Black Sea....along the way, the boat stops at Durnstein, Vienna, Budapest, Kalocsa, Mohacs, Iron Gate, Turnu Severin, Vidin and Russe. The eleven day return journey up river substitutes Durnstein and Turnu Severin with visits to Oltenitza, Melk and Grein. No matter which of these cruises you take, this is the finest and most comfortable way to visit this part of Europe.
