T/S Albatros Rating: Submit your review here Operator: Phoenix Reisen Cruises Year Built / Last Refurbished: 1957 / 1995 Length / Tonnage: 608 / 21,989 Number of Cabins / Passengers: 445 / 890 Officers / Crew: German / European Operating Area: Europe & Mediterranean Overview: launched as Sylvania for Cunard in 1957 she sailed from Liverpool to Canada. In 1968 she was acquired by Sitmar and became the Fairwind. In 1988 she was transferred to Princess and spent the next 5 years sailing as the Dawn Princess.
Despite her age she has been fairly well maintained over the years and is a comfortable ship with some fairly roomy cabins. She is not marketed in the US and you will find most of your fellow passengers are from Germany. Food and service are good but not exceptional. Her deck areas and public rooms can get crowded when sailing full. If you are looking for something different from the Caribbean cruise experience you might find this ship interesting.
