Overview
The concept of The World was the invention of Knut U. Kloster Jr., whose family has been a pioneering force and major contributor to the development of the modern cruise industry. In 1997, Kloster gathered together a team of experienced professionals in shipping, design, hospitality, finance, sales and marketing to plan for his dream. Ship Builders Fosen Mek. Verksteder A/S, Rissa, Norway, delivered the ship in March, 2002. In October 2003, the residents of the vessel purchased The World. ResidenSea Ltd., remains the independent management company responsible for the sales, marketing, operations and administration of The World.
