She entered service as the Crown Princess for Princess cruises and transferred to Aida in 2002. Prior to her transfer she was refitted as a club ship (Club Med-type vacations), she sports "eye catching" art work along the sides of her hull. She has lots of open deck space which will be filled with sun worshipers during good weather. Her gym is one of the largest afloat and she has one outside pool. Service is generally very good and most of your fellow passengers will be from Germany with an average age of 30-45.
The outdoor decks are so simple in their layout....besides the promenade area....guess that's why it's called Promenade Deck.....there are quiet spots on most after decks, and plenty of chairs and lounges on Lido and Sun Decks. One of the two pools has a swim up bar, and there are the popular bubbling hot tubs nearby.
In addition to the traditional dining room, she also has 2 buffet-style restaurants and one ala carte restaurant.
The cabins on the A'Rosa Blue....each and every one.....is outstanding. Whether you choose an inside or an outside standard stateroom....from among nineteen categories.....you'll get plenty of storage space, two lower beds that can be pushed together, a television, minibar, and a large closet. All cabin bathrooms, except for mini suites and suites, have showers.
The only differences among all nineteen types of rooms are....location, window, porthole or no view. If you want an outside cabin, the "FF" category is a great buy. Compounding the confusion, there are five categories of balconied standard cabins.... identical in every way....and there's less than a $60 per day per person difference between the least and most expensive. Here again, try to reserve the least expensive category "BF"......there are only two of them on board, but over the course of a week's cruise, you'll save a pile of money. Thankfully, there's only one kind of mini suite.....it comes with a private balcony, a good sized living room area, two beds that can be shoved together, and a large bathroom with tub. The top of the line "AA" suites are larger yet, but have a fixed queen bed, a separate tub and shower and a dressing room....and they are among the nicest at sea.
Since transferring to the Aida fleet, she is promoted to the German market.
She was transferred to the Aida fleet in 2002 and now is targeted at the German market offerring alternating seven day Eastern Caribbean cruises from the Dominican Republic. The northern itineary includes stops at Road Town-Tortola, Basseterre-St. Kitts, and Rosea-Dominca plus two days at sea. The southern itinerary includes stops at Kingstown-St. Vincent, Bridgetown-Barbados, Port of Spain-Trinidad, and St. George's-Grenada plus two days at sea.
These programs and service on these ships are designed and promoted for the German market so if you are looking for the typical Caribbean cruise experience you should probably look to another cruise line.
