Good budget cruise. Don't expect Royal Caribbean or Princess
because it sure isn't. However, it is a great cruise for the money, and for
the ports you visit.
The currency on board is the pound Sterling, so all slot
machines and table games are played with British money. I am Canadian and
we didn't partake in any of the shows, because the entertainment was geared
towards British audiences.
The food served for dinner was generally good. The
breakfast and lunch food was catered towards British taste -- totally awful
sausages! Got sick of breakfast real quick. The service was good,
comparable to Carnival ships on which I had previously travelled. The
buffet food was forgettable.
Our cabin was around 100 square feet -- ugh. No closet space, just
a curtain drawn over a very small area. The shower was so small that if you
dropped the soap, your rear end would be hitting the bathroom door. At
night, it was quiet except when the midnight buffet tables and chairs were
being put back in place around 1 a.m.
As I said earlier, I didn't attend any shows other than a
husband and wife team who were basically lounge singers. The quality of the
cruise staff and entertainers were adequate.
There's only one day at sea on this cruise. You take this
cruise for the ports, not the boat. The day at sea was uneventful followed
by the first formal dinner. The ports were Palma, Mallorca;
Livorno,Civativecchia, and Genoa, Italy; Villefranche, France; and
Barcelona, Spain. Magnificent history in all of them. This is why you take
the cruise, not because of the boat.
My guess is that 80% of the boat were British, 10% Canadian, 5%
German and 5% other. Most were over forty and were all friendly, no big
partiers. We didn't meet anyone that we would be in a hurry to see again.
