Itinerary: Mediterranean
My family and numerous passengers we spoke to were treated by all the staff with the utmost respect, a term I believe messrs Smith and Goldberg know nothing about.
Having read their slanted review just two days before departure we were very nervous of what we would find. Luckily messrs Smith and Goldberg were not on our cruise! I am relieved to think that "people like us who have no business even approaching their gangways" will not be sitting opposite us at dinner on our next cruise on the CAROUSEL.
Whilst the ship was at sea the sun deck did get rather crowded and there was sometimes a problem finding sun beds due to the loathsome practise of people leaving towels on them. On board rule is that after 20 minutes it was acceptable to remove any towels from vacant sun beds.
The pool is no more than a splash pool but we were so glad it was there.
We visited every lounge and bar and being in the catering and leisure business we could find no fault. Roomy and air conditioned. We did not expect lounges the size of the Royal Albert Hall.
The service was superb!!! Every member of staff seemed very friendly and highly trained, and could still raise a smile even after nearing the end of a 12 hour shift. We did not find a member of staff that one could not help liking and admiring.
We ate everything from French Cuisine to Tex Mex via Indonesian, Chinese, Indian, Japanese, Italian etc. Breakfast was a choice of English or Continental with something for everyone. "Low class banquet style" I think not!
The wine list was superb and we had no complaints with the wine we were served every evening.
Small, but with everything to do on board we saw very little of it except to shower and change. In fact my two teenagers and my wife and I adapted to the shortage of space quite well.
I think we attended almost every show! The crew and the guest entertainers were superb, and there was something for all ages. Every entertainer was very friendly and willing to mingle and chat with passengers during their leisure time. Jon Courtenay the magician, musician, and comedian, even gave us an impromptu show in the Midsummer lounge at 2.30 am. I still don't know how he did it!!!
Plenty of On board activities for all. Something for everyone. You had to carry your copy of the very informative 'Sundial' with you as there were too many activities to remember.
We were too busy enjoying ourselves to visit the health club but that was our preference. We need one now to work off the effects of all that wonderful food.
Our fellow voyagers came from all walks of life and were of differing nationalities. We made friends with German, Canadian, Scandinavian etc. In fact nationality did not come into it! It was like being on the equivalent of The Ark. Yes, we would certainly have our fellow passengers and ALL the crew over for dinner especially crew members like Roy, our cabin Steward, Reynaldo, Drinks Waiter, Jerry, Cocktail Barman extraordinaire, and our Table Waiters, Remy, Tayawatchi, etc as long as they sang to us!
