Itinerary: Caribbean - Eastern
Do not be put off because this is an Airtours ship as its probably the best value 4 star ship on the seas.
The Public areas are clean, comfortable and spacious and although the ship was sailing at full capacity it never seemed crowded. We always found space on deck for sunbathing even on days at sea when we decided to stay in bed a little longer. The Internet room with 6 P.C's in it was never busy either. $12 for 30 minutes.
The quality & quantity of food on this ship is unbelievably. Although you could eat in the restaurant for breakfast & at dinner time, most days we just used the Lido self serve cafe at the rear of the ship. Salads, Fruit ,Hot Meat Dishes & Hot Dogs & Burgers and Chips and endless cups of Coffee and Tea could be have here. Evenings were something to look forward to as the food was lovely and well presented and on a number of occasions entertainment was presented by the waiters.
Although the cabins are small, 2 Adults & 2 Children can manage quite easily and you do get used to the small shower. Plenty of Wardrobe & Drawer space.
I was very suprised at how good & professional the shows were in the Can Can Lounge on the Sunbird. 3 Cabaret acts had been flown out from Britain and the Comedian had to keep explaining some of his Jokes to the Canadians in the Audience which made his show even funnier. The Oklahoma Lounge is where you can dance to a 5 piece band or take part in many of the evening competitions.
We visited Antigua (beware of hundreds of taxi drivers) St.Marten (We found this to be the cheapest for Alcohol) St.Kitts (nothing there),Day at sea, Aruba (this & St.Martin were our favorite islands), day at sea, back to Barbados. We wished that we had had a chance to see Barbados before our flight home. This was the first holiday were the kids (14 & 11) were allowed to go off by themselves and we had no worries over their safety. The staff on board seemed to love all the children and it was not long before they new all there names.
The age group of the passengers seemed to be about mid 30's to mid 60's, although a large amount of pensioners seemed to get on at Aruba. They were staying on the ship whilst it repositioned to Palma. I have now been on this ship twice and would recommend eating on the second sitting if you can wait until 8:30pm. You can stay on deck longer and watch the ship departing at approx 6:30pm every evening drinking a glass of champagne which is served at this time. We got on with everybody sat at our table and this made our evening meal something to look forward to. You'll enjoy it !!
