Itinerary: Mediterranean

Overview
I am a first time cruiser and just wanted to say how much i enjoyed the experience. I have worked for P+O travel but never actually experienced one of their cruises, but know a few who have.! I overheard a couple slagging off the Sunbird and comparing it to a poor mans version of P+O. I thought this was a little mean. They must have known that the Sunbird was less grand than their last sailing on the Oriana! There seemed plenty to do, although just relaxing and chilling was on the cards for me! Waiters were very efficient bringing the drinks to you. Sunbathing on deck seemed very busy and crowded though.

Public Areas
Public areas were great, really clean. As a non smoker i appreciated the designated areas set aside for smokers(although some of the officers were ignoring the rules!).

Food and Service
Food was absolutely fab! The main seated dining room was lovely but the open air more casual diner was great too. I went there a few evenings instead of the main dining room. It was a bit awkward sitting with a load of people you didn't know in the main dining area, but you soon loosen up!

Cabins
My cabin was a basic outside one. Nice and quiet. Very compact but who cares! Its only meant for sleeping!

Entertainment
Shows were good, especially in the Can Can lounge(non smoking room hurrah!!) Bernie Flint was the entertainment when i was on board, he was hilarious! The resident band were good, but very repetitive.

Activities
There was a gym, which i never frequented! You must visit the ports of call, especially " Pompeii" what a fabulous trip that is. Basically, i just sunbathed and did some sightseeing by day, then by night, ate a fab meal and enjoyed a few(and a few more)drinks! Lovely cocktails on board! Not expensive at all. The drinks package was no good for me as i only drink a specific drink/type. Its ok if you just want a basic glass of something.

Who Goes
Down to earth couples(apart from the ones that was slagging off the ship!), not too many kids. Great for a first timer like me!
