Itinerary: Mediterranean
My Husband and I have just returned from a brilliant holiday on
the Sundream's Jewels of the Atlantic Cruise. The crew, sales, catering,
cabin and entertainment staff were all brilliant. Everyone was treated like
royalty. This was during the school summer holidays so more children were
on board than other times of the year. If you wanted family, fun holiday at
sea this is the ideal cruise. We left ours at home as we thought that a
cruise would not be their scene, this would not have been the case had we
known more. We are now planning a family cruise in August 2003 for our
twenty-fifth Wedding Anniversary.
The "My Fair Lady Lounge" was our favourite area. We did
line dancing, ballroom dancing lessons during the day and had great fun
watching the family entertainment at night. The entertainment staff are
multi-tasked, working hard to make everyone happy. The mixture of the age
groups, Dave and Val Bergin patiently taught myself and friends ballroom
dancing during the day and took active parts in the evening entertainments.
There stamina was amaizing. The lounge has cosy sofas and comfortable
chairs. The bar staff can find you when the lights go out, their memory of
where you are sitting in such a vast area is an art in its self. If you like
a little flutter it is great fun to attent the teaching sessions in the
casino, not too expensive and a lot of fun.
The food is superb, the choices must suit every palete, the
only problem was what to have, the menus were well planned, a chance to try
new things or have old favourites. The waiters were professoinals with
beaming smiles. Their entertainment at the end of the evening meals were
great fun. Nothing was to much trouble, they dealt with any query quick and
efficiently. There standards of sevice were very high. Their were buffet
meals available during the day on the sun deck should you wish to eat
outside. These to were of an exceptional standard.
Our cabin was on A deck towards the front of the ship. There was
ample storage and closet space, we had packed far more than we needed and
there was still plenty of space. The laundry service was excellent value for
money. The showerooms were suffient in size, clean and well vented. This
was the main deck for disembarkment at to ports of call, very handy when you
come back on board with souveniors.
Excellent, first-class family entertainment, helping add to
the 'value for money' the cruise offers. There was something for everyone.
We called into La Corona, Cadiz, Malaga, Casablanca, Madeira
and Lisbon. We sailed and returned to Southampton. This gave us a chance to
get our sea legs, explore the ship and build up to the heat. There is one
pool on board and it was time tabled to allow adults time on their own in
the pool. We were not aware of any childminding or baby facilities but there
were children's and teen's itineries available.
The ship was full of people form all over Britain, with different
back grounds and family groups. The atmosphere was generally relaxed during
the day with a chance to dress up on formal evenings. We have made great
friends and hope to meet up with some at Christmas time.
