Overview
If your thinking of going on a cruise with or without children and you have never cruised before, you must try this affordable cruise first.

Public Areas
The public areas are very good for what they are there for, the decor is very nice and there is ample room for passengers to view the shows that are on. Plenty of sunbathing areas and decks to "promenade". There is a none reserving of sun loungers policy, just do as I did and remove towel fold nicely give to deck steward and smile when person leaving towel on sun bed returns 2 hours later. The pool looks small at first glance but you discover again that it is good for the job. My only criticism of the pool would be they should have an attendant to rein in the children when they tend to get a little lively and they should be a time allocated for the children to use the pool only to prevent getting a rubber ring or pool ball on your head when trying to have relaxing bathe. The best public area in my view was the Midnight Sun Lounge. A fantastic place to sit and enjoy a cocktail prior to late sitting dinner, watching the sun set and chilling out was fantastic.

Food and Service
The service was excellent, the waiters, assistant waiters, head waiters and restaurant managers were fantastic. Look out for the "Spice Boys". The waiters entertained the passengers and will sing to you at the drop of a hat. The food was excellent and there is no excuse for any one saying otherwise because if you did not enjoy something or if you wished to taste another thing on the menu the staff would immediatly bring you something else, they were only to pleased to ensure you had what you wanted. The deck buffet was great during the day as you could pig out on chips burgers and stuff, there were also full salads, vegetarian dishes, fruit and a large selection of desserts but you could sit in your shorts and T shirt rather than change for lunch in the dinning room.

Cabins
The cabin we had was on B Deck aft. The space was fine 2 adults 1 child of 11. Yes it was a little small but this is not a state room nor where we on the QE2. The bathroom was perfectly adequate for what you want it for. Hanging space OK and enough draws, put shoes under bed. The only thing I would advise is if you are a light sleeper do not have any cabin back aft if you can help it, it is a little noisey however believe me you get used to it. I would say for any cabin B, A, Main or Prom go for fwd of the funnel, refer to the brochure plan before booking and pay the #50 to ensure you get a good quiet cabin.

Entertainment
All of the entertainment was excellent as good as any West End show. The ships band and resident dancers where excellent and the costumes out of this world, hoe they achieved all the shows on the ship was amazing.

Activities
The itinerary was good the shore excursions on offer were in my opinion a little expensive. I was lucky enough to have a lot of experience of getting around foreign ports of call having been in the RN for a number of years therefore we used public transport to visit most sights for a fraction of the stated cost. Children's activities could have been more entertaining in my view, but our daughter loved it and was upset when we awarded only a Good on the feedback comment sheet. The ports we called at La Caruna, Casablanca, Las Palmas, Tenneriff, La Gomera, Maderia and Lisbon.

Who Goes
First time crusers, cruisers with children and people who have cruised before.

Unfortunately our fellow dinning guests did not get their sea legs for sometime so for the first few days we where on our own. When they did leave their cabin we all had a great time. Yes I would invite them all for dinner. So if Mary, Sue, Sahra, Rob or Kay from the cruise that started 25/5/02 till 8/6/02 are ever in Weymouth give us a call
