Date of Trip: July 5, 2003
Itinerary: Europe
My partner and I went on the North Cape Voyager cruise from Harwich, it was our third voyage on the Sundream having been previously on the Baltic cruise and Med cruise. Try and get first sitting at meal times as 2nd sitters tend to miss out on some evening entertainment. The show lounges tend to fill very quickly after dinner so don't hang around if you want a good seat
The public areas were clean and comfortable, the staff at which ever level were always courteous and friendly. The pool is small so gets very cramped if hot, and is surrounded by sun beds again very busy on a hot day at sea.
We felt the choice and standard of the meals has fallen over the years, but is still good value for money, the service although still adequate was noticeable that staff numbers in the dining room have dropped.
Our cabin again this year was fine even though we were on B deck our cabin was forward so engine noise and vibration was not a problem, the cabin size is fine for 2 people I have not shared with more so I cannot comment.
We went to all the shows and entertainment, the ships own entertainment staff were very good and put in a 100%, some of the professional acts flown in especially were sadly old hat, most we had seen on previous cruises with the same old jokes or songs and should have retired years ago. A special mention for Kelly, Kate, Jeff and all the Sundream dancers.
There are lots of activities on board all day long, check your daily sundial for info and times,Table tennis becomes interesting on a windy day try it|. We stopped at many ports on our way up to the top of Europe, and some of the excursions were pricey and not very good.
This cruise has to rate very good for our fellow travellers of whom we got to know many and our funny and entertaining dinner companions, Derek and Sylvia and Mike and Julie.
