Date of Trip: December 16, 2000
Itinerary: Caribbean - Eastern
The cruise stops in several ports of call (San Juan, PR; St. Thomas, St. Maarten and Nassau, Bahamas), but for VERY brief periods of time. The schedule is easily changed due to various factors which may greatly decrease your time ashore.
There are a great number of public areas which are well maintained with an excellent layout. However, the directional maps in some areas are so well thumbed that they are illegible, which makes finding your way about sometimes difficult unless you can locate another area.
The food is the usual high standard found on cruise ships; however, the Century runs its dining facilities like a troop transport. If you miss the scheduled food service hours there are few or no alternatives outside of room service.
The cabins are well-appointed with an astonishing amount of built-in storage space. The bathrooms appear small, but as a fair-sized person, I found the showers full-size and the bathroom compact, but not cramped.
The entertainment was superlative and the cruise director and staff were extremely upbeat and professional.
There are a range of activities provided for a variety of interests including fitness, cards, a library, group trivia contests, pool side activities, dancing, karaoke, theme nights and several quiet nooks for winding down.
The passengers were a range of ages and interests. There were A LOT of children on this cruise, particularly pre-teens and teens. Frequently, they ran AMOK. This included tossing fruit back and forth from displays, dumping deck chairs into the ocean, attempting to quaff other guests' drinks when they were dancing and so on.
