Itinerary: Europe
We have just returned from a wonderful cruise on the Constellation. From Dover to Barcelona. The weather was wonderful with temperatures between 20 & 28 C.
The Ship:
Constellation is a beautiful 91,000 ton ship, she has 11 decks. All the public rooms are beautifully decorated. She has a 3 story
high theater in shades of beige and pink, a two story high dining room called San Marco that looks like the Millennium.s but the
colors are different. The Grand Foyer is magnificent, Rendez-Vous Lounge, Martini and Champagne bars are very comfortable,
Reflections Nightclub is the panoramic 360 degrees observation lounge, sweet Cova Cafi is charming and our favorite Notes which is
the fantastic music room. Everything is brand new and lovely. The cinema is small and comfortable, we watched one movie there. The
Seaside Cafi on deck 10 is also beautiful.
The Emporium shopping arcade has nice shops but some things we wanted to buy Swiss chocolates were not there. They held sales
sometimes and the prices were good.
The Casino is large and beautiful, we used the slot machines once, and one of them was kind enough to give us $55 (we invested $2).
The Food:
We ate mostly at the San Marco restaurant, also for breakfast and lunch. For Lunch and breakfast there is open seating and an
assigned seating for dinner. The food was wonderful! There is a wide variety and as we eat mainly fish, there was always a fish
item on the menu. The desserts were fantastic, especially the chocolate ones and all the ice creams. In the mornings we used to
take a baked apple that was delicious and the quality of the pastries is superb. Many waiters remembered us from the Millennium.
Our waiter and assistant waiter were very good. The food in the Seaside cafi where there is a buffet style meal was also very good
but most of the time we preferred to go to the dining room.
We used room service once, ordering pizza and cakes, both were very good and arrived on time.
The Cabin:
We had a 1B category cabin No. 8064 on Panorama deck. It was wonderful and we loved it. The colors are beautiful with Orange,
light beige and light green. The bathroom has a shower which is as we learned much more comfortable to use than a bath, a
hairdryer, lotion and shampoo dispensers and bathrobes.
The cupboard has a large storage space with hanging space and drawers. The bed is very comfortable with wonderful blankets. There
is a writing desk, sofabed and a private balcony. The television is large and is sitting on top of the minibar. We could easily
put all 3 suitcases under the bed. There are shelves near the desk. The air-condition system was good. The room was kept spotless
by our stateroom attendant John who was the best we have ever had. He was quick and the minute we left for breakfast and dinner he
cleaned our room and put ample soaps, towels and everything we wanted.
We used the laundry twice, it came promptly and clean.
The Entertainment:
Most of the shows we saw at the Celebrity Theater where very good, we liked the Broadway style shows of the Celebrity singers and
dancers. Lindsey Hamilton (a wonderful singer) gave two great shows, which were the highlight.
We purchased six movies from the interactive television selection, we enjoyed them very much.
The Itinerary:
The Itinerary was: Dover, Zeebrugge, Le Havre, Vigo, Lisbon, Cadiz, Palma, Livorno, Villefranche, Barcelona.
We took only 3 shore excursions, the first one was called .Medieval Ghent and Belgian Chocolates., Ghent is a medieval town, it is
very pretty, the tour was very interesting, the first part was a tour of the city, the second a demonstration of chocolate making in
a nice hotel and tasting chocolates. We bought there also superb chocolates.
The other two shore excursions were .Calvados Countryside. and Pisa, after these two experiences we realized we don.t care for these
kinds of tours at all.
The other port we did on our on and they were fabulous.
Embarkation/Debarkation:
We arrived at the port of Dover at approximately 11:00 AM. It was almost empty, and the check in was very fast and we were in the ship after 10 minutes. Debarkation was also smooth and we found our luggage quickly.
The Ship's Staff: The staff, many from the Millennium, was great everywhere. Guest Relations, the Bank, the Shore Excursions desk, the bar staff, and everyone else we encountered was very helpful.
On one of the warmer days in Spain, there was a wonderful party on the outer deck near the pool, with tropical fruit buffet, Caribbean music and dancing, this was one of the highlights of the cruise.
We had a wonderful cruise on Connie and we would love to take another cruise on her soon.
