Are you wondering if your vacation dollars should be used cruising on the "Constellation"? If you are new to crusing or and old pro, considerate it money well spent.
The open areas of the ship were clean, comfortable, and glamorously decorated. The Cova cafe and surrounding area was very accommodating. My 7 year old son and I loved to scoot to the game room to try some strategy in chess.
There is a saying among passengers that " you need to hurry up and finish eating because it will be soon time to eat". I suggest trying to order only what sounds special to you on the menu. You won't be dissapointed with the care of preparation and taste of what you try. But, if you order all courses, buy the second night, your clothes won't fit! The waiters seemed to move you along a little too fast at times, but just take your time and enjoy.
My wife, son and I stayed in a "Sky Suite"(6145). Our butler's name was Carlton, and Rebecca was our housekeeper. The room was perfect. You will never have to ask for extra towels, chilled drinking water, or friut to nibble on. The marble work in the bathroom was a special touch. The 5' tub was too small for someone over 5'-8" to be comfortable in, so use the large shower instead(plenty of water pressure). The bypass closet doors were a little annoying in rough seas which made them open and close while you were trying to access the closet. But a well placed sports bag or pillow seemed to help. I couldn't possibly think that having a "BUTLER" was necessary, but was I wrong. It's the only way to cruise. Carlton and Rebecca were the reasons we have booked a return cruise with Celebrity this fall to Quebec. They made our vacation so pleasent and trouble free my son asked if he could stay with them.
Cruise staff is excellent. Lets make the point.. the Cruise staff was excellent!! If you can find a member of staff or crew that didn't have a genuine smile and polite hello or offer to help you, then you probally didn't come out of you cabin. Entertainment was sedating, but we didn't seem to care. The Captian was funny and looked like he loved his job...enough for me.
I wouldn't be representing this ship correctly if I failed to mention the "FUN FACTORY" and their staff. After some major apprehension concerning our only son, and if he would like the childrens program, we couldn't have imagined the professionalism and itinerary offered. Our son is very well behaved and respectful but he is also a 7 yr. old boy who likes to have fun (good clean fun). He was absolutely satisfied being in the "FUN FACTORY". He joined them for dinner, (which was so cool instead of the rigid, dressed up, grown up food dinner in the dining room) at 6:00 p.m., enjoyed the evening program, and even stayed every night for the slumber party. When his mother or I would call to check on him to see if he wanted one of us to come rescue him, he politely asked us what part of "NO, Thank You" we didn't understand! (We got the hint).
I cruised again with an Group of Cruisetravel Netherlands, and my Dutch fellow Passengers are all very nice. I never made an bad experience with any Dutch or Cruisetravel, so i will book there again. For Flights I recommend KLM, Royal Dutch Airlines.
I would invite them all - of course!
