Itinerary: Mediterranean

Overview
This was our first Celebrity cruise, we enjoyed it very much. Ever since we saw the Millennium last year docked near the Rotterdam (our last year's cruise), we wanted to sail on her, she was too new then, now she was perfect. We started our trip in a week in Amsterdam, which was wonderful, then flew to Barcelona to meet our Millennium.

When we arrived at Barcelona pier, as soon as we got off the limo, a porter came to take our luggage, we didn't know how a Celebrity embarkation is going to be, so we arrived at about 11:45 AM, there were not so many people, so it went quite smoothly, we were in our cabin after 20 minutes

Public Areas
Millennium is magnificent, decorated in lovely style, comfortable lounges, beautiful staircase on the Grand Foyer, Rendez-Vous and Platinum lounges, the sweet Cova Cafe Di Milano and our favorite the Cosmos lounge. Celebrity theatre is the most comfortable and beautiful theatre we've seen. The pool deck is lovely too but we didn't have time to use either of the pools. The ship was very stable, we hardly noticed she moved. Our location was next to Words library, which was very nice too. The midship elevators are great, we never waited too long for one, except arriving from the shore excursions.

Food and Service
Metropolitan Restaurant is beautiful and impressive. Our waiter and assistant waiter where both great, the menu was varied and each meal was a celebration. We mainly ate fish and chicken and they were always excellent, the desserts were fantastic, the coffee ice cream, the chocolate cake and the apple pie with Vanilla ice cream were the best. Breakfast in the Metropolitan was great too, the pastries and baked apple we took every day were delicious.

The food at that Ocean Cafe was good, not as good as the Metropolitan, but it was good enough. The pizza we ordered for room service was great and arrived quickly. The Olympic Restaurant is very beautiful, but the food was better at the Metropolitan's.

Cabins
Our cabin No. 8098 on Panorama deck was midship, with a balcony. Very beautifully decorated, comfortable bed with lovely bed spread, a mirrored wall, a TV cabinet with a minibar, a sofa and a coffee table, a desk with marble top with cabinets on each side. The closet had a safe, drawers and clothes hanging space and very nice bathrobes. The storage space was sufficient enough. The bathroom had a shower which was more comfortable than many ship baths we used. The balcony was large enough and private, with 2 chairs and a small table, we soon asked for another chair to be brought because we are 3. On the desk there was a bucket of ice and water. Our cabin stewardess and her assistant were both very good.

Entertainment
We saw 2 shows with the Celebrity dancers and singers, both were wonderful.

Activities
The Itinerary was Barcelona, Malta, Naples, Rome, Monaco - Corsica and back to Barcelona.

In Malta we didn't take a shore excursion, most of the shore excursions offered were tiring, so we did our own comfortable tour watching the beautiful departure from Malta from the balcony.

For Naples we took the Naples city tour which was great, Naples has some wonderful sights and it was organized well.

Rome was the highlight of the cruise, we booked the cruise because of Rome, and we decided we'll do Rome our way. Prior to the cruise we booked a limousine to take us to Rome and back plus a tour of Rome. We arrived at Rome Cavalieri Hilton for breakfast, which was wonderful, afterwards our limo driver took us to the Vatican Museums, since we arrived at about 11:45 there were no lines at all and we could enter at once. The Vatican museums are magnificent! So many wonderful halls and rooms with outstanding works of art, amazing! We walked and walked, and every room was more beautiful than the other, the Sistine Chapel was the most beautiful. After we got out we were happy to see our limo, we couldn't walk any more and were happy to sit and rest in the car. Our driver was wonderful, he then took us for a Rome city tour, we visited the Coliseum, Trevi Fountain, saw Castel Sant'Angelo, Piazza Navona and the Forum. Afterwards we returned to the Cavalieri Hilton for a very good lunch. We were sorry to leave Rome, we had a wonderful day, but it was time to start back for Chivitavecia, the way back was quick, since it started to rain we were glad to be on the way back to our Millennium.

The Corsica shore excursion we booked was canceled due to low demand, so we stayed on the ship and rested from Rome.

In Monaco we booked the Monte Carlo and the Grand Casino tour. The tour took us to the Cathedral, then to see the palace from outside, the second half of the tour was the Grand Casino, unfortunately there was not enough time for the Casino so it was a brief visit. Monte Carlo is beautiful, we wished we had more time there.

Disembarkation was very smooth, our purple color was announced very fast, too fast for us, since it was so hard leaving the ship, on the way out we saw the Golden docked near the Millennium, each more beautiful than the other. There were porters in the pier to help us with the luggage that we found very quickly.

Who Goes
We had a wonderful cruise, the Millennium is fantastic, time passed so fast. The food, cabin and staff were great. We want to sail the Millennium or Constellation again very soon.
