Itinerary: Mexico - Western
We sailed aboard the Elation this past december and I think it is a good value but it was a very long and crowded check in.
The public areas were nice but the ship is probably due for some minor refurbishing. There aren't really enough hot tubs to go around the were always very crowded but I would not say that you could not find a spot.
The main dinning room was pretty good some nights it was better than others. Tiffany's Buffet was usually pretty good. The breakfast was nice and the pool side buffet with hamburgers and hot dogs was really very good I do highly recommend buying soda cards i found out its very hard to try and go with out soda for 7 days.
The cabins were ok. We were in the rear of the ship on the Riviera deck and sometimes you could smell the kitchen (like a onion smell) I would have booked a higher deck if I had been aware of that problem.
We were very pleased with the entertainment because of the holiday (Christmas) the kids on board performed a Christmas show it was really cute and 2 other nights it was Vegas style dancing type shows the nite in Puerto Vallarta they had local dancers come on board they were very good also an older gentleman that played the fiddle and being that I am fairly young (28) I thought I would hate the fiddle show but I tell you its not to be missed! This guy was great!
The health club and spa were really not that great. If your used to spas like in Vegas you will not be satisfied with this spa. The ports of call were pretty nice but its Mexico on the beach. I couldn't even film my kids due to constant salesmen asking me to buy everything from rings to deck chairs. In Puerto Vallarta we walked to the cathedral in downtown then to a cab to the Mismoloya resort area there is a nice beach and the old movie set for the Night of the Iguana but again lots of salesmen. We also took in a bull fight. I thought that this would be horribly cruel but believe it or not a very culturally enriching experience. In Mazatlan we took a catamaran ride to Deer Island it was ok And last but not least Cabo San Lucas very nice they should spend more tI ame in this port we went to Lovers Beach and Los Arcos also Cabo Wabo this was the best port.
The cruisers on board were all types nice people eager to have fun lots of young people and families.
