The trip on the MS Fantasy was not to be recommended. The Fantasy has gone downhill considerably since our last cruise and needs refurbishment. This cruise was one of the worst three we have taken out of eighteen.
The casino staff was outstanding. Tim O'Toole is an excellent manager of a group of very motivated personnel. All the windows on the ship were so dirty, it was hard to see what was going on outside. Many of the announcements were made by personnel with accents that were difficult to understand. Bingo was operated by the dancers and was a disaster at best. The Century Boulevard on the Promenade deck was greatly improved over our last trip on the Fantasy eight years ago.
Breakfasts in the dining rooms was terrible - eggs benedict were baked or something (had to cut with a knife), the ham was extremely salty, cold, yuck! Service in the dining rooms was pretty poor, no one seemed to give a damn, the staff acted as though they were going to get their tip money anyway. Lunch and dinner - about half the food was very good, the other half was not so good. Lido Deck Windows Of The Sea Restaurant breakfasts were better, although my wife got very warm, sour milk with her cereal one morning. The hash browns also were cold and had to be cut with a knife - very dense, preformed patties.
The mattresses were old, broken down and lumpy. Cabins are clean, but have seen too much traffic.
The entertainment was average.
Debarkation: Carnival should take lessons from Princess. Too many people called at once, all crowding the exit paths.
Most of the people we met were nice.
