MS Festivale

Date of Trip: January 19, pre-1990
Itinerary: Caribbean

Overview
This ship is no longer in existance. It was my first ever cruise in 1979. Festivale was a beautiful ship and deserved the title "funship". The food was excellent! The ice sculptures on the midnight buffets were incredible. The staff was the friendliest and most helpful I have ever had the pleasure of cruising with. The food was unsurpassable!

Public Areas
All the public areas were warm, cozy, fun and lively. No one in particular. All the decks were fun.

Food and Service
The midnight buffet was incredible. Food piled as high as mountains on platters as huge as a tire. The ice sculptures were absolutely amazing. The dining rooms were comfortable and staff was friendly and funny.

Cabins
Didn't spend a lot of time in the cabin. It was small, but accommodating. The shower would drill holes through you, but was large enough. Plenty of closet and dresser space. Wasn't noisy at all.

Entertainment
The entertainment was excellent. A lot of audience participation. The entertainers were hilarious and the dancers indescribable.

Activities
Don't know about babysitting. There was always something going on and the discos and lounges didn't close like they do now. No one slept on the Festivale. It was a 24 hour party. We went to San Juan and the virgin islands. A beautiful cruise. The purser even rented a car and took my family and me on a personal tour around St. Thomas at no cost to us!

Who Goes
I would definitely invite everyone I met. It was a total mixture of people, young and old, single and married. The Festivale even took into consideration your present status when seating you in the dining room. They carefully sat everyone together who were single and age related. They were wonderful! The don't make cruise ships like that anymore. I've been on four more cruises with Carnival, Princess and Norwegian and out of every magnificent cruise ship I've been on, the TSS Festivale was my favorite and I'll never forget her.
