This was a very reliable ship. I spoke to Captain Calvillo whilst on the cruise and he told me that in 1995 this was the fastest ship cruising the Caribbean; three steam boilers with only two being used,with in reserve. When he turned the ship around in St. Lucia, he only required an additional 83 feet in length. Bear in mind that this ship was built in 1961. The ship cut through the water like a porpoise and there was no vibration at all. Carnival certainly did there home work in purchasing this old liner.

The lounge bar area was very comfortable and the library was cosy.

Our cabin was approximately 270 sq. ft., two lower beds separated by a large dressing table. Theirs was a bidet in the washroom and there was a bathtub with a shower head. The cabin was extremely quiet.

My wife and I attended all of the shows and found them to be of great value. Again the staff and entertainers were up to the high quality of carnival cruise Lines.

The shore excursions at each port of call were varied and I should say that they met many of the passengers expectations. We called at San Juan, The American Virgin Islands, Dominica, Barbados and St Lucia.

The passengers which we met were very interesting and many had been on newer ships - the comment being that there was more vibration on the newer ships.
