The ship is nice and new with major and minor problems. Luggage damage and handling is a major problem. Excursion departures were congested and disorganized. The excursion to Florence and Pisa was horrible. Ports were great! Ship is done in the usual Carnival decor style. It was generally a good value for the price paid, however shore excursions are high!
All public area were nice. They seemed to have improved there entertainment to appeal to a wider range of ages. There was dance music all evening and it was a good variety.
The super club is wonderful in food as well as decor. The main dining rooms opened late almost every evening, however the food and service were very good. The Lido, I refer to as the ant colony dining room, just a so so buffet. The chip and fish was very greasy and horrible. Room service was superb.
Cabin space and closet space was excellent. Shower, well, it is small but OK! Our room was quiet.
Attended one show! It was excellent! Most were not please with the cruise director.
We stopped at Naples, Rhodes, Izmir, Athens, Istanbul, Katakolon, Florence and Pisa, Civitavecchia. We took shore tours each day and they were wonderful with the exception to the Florence and Pisa tour. Lunch on this tour was spent with 150 school children. Had to much time in Pisa, and about 11/2 hour walk in Florence, not going into anything. Walk was far to fast and many had a hard time keeping up. I would suggest, taking Carnival's transportation to Florence and hiring your own tour guide. The day in port Civitavecchia, stayed on board, there was nothing to do. If you went to Rome, it was Sunday and very little is open. If your planning on doing Rome on this day, make sure what day of the week you last day falls on, Sunday is not good.
Health club was great except Jazucci was not heating.
Enjoyed the couple we had dinner with each night. Most of the fellow passengers were great, however some insisted on wearing shorts on shore excursion who required you to be covered. I think you find these individual on almost every cruise.
