Overall we enjoyed the cruise. we got what we wanted relaxation with a little bit of fun and lots of great food and service.
We enjoyed the upper lido deck most (we could watch all the activities in the pool below) but we would sit and have a few drinks in the area outside the casino when we needed a break from the sun. The pools and hot-tubs were great, compared to the Sensation last year we couldn't get near these on the Sensation. One day someone had fouled the pool on the Pride( I think a baby!) at the lido deck and they had to close it but they moved all the activities to another pool.
We loved the food I'm working hard at the gym now to prove it!! we ate in the dining room every night and the food was wonderful. I have never tasted lobster and shrimp like it! We had a great selection of main items and starters or you could have a main item for a starter which we did many nights. Our 17 year old daughter did not like the dining room food she does not like sea food but our waiters went out of their way to make sure she had enough to eat. She loves soup and salad and had lots to choose from here.
We had breakfast every morning from the section where they make the omelettes, I close my eyes and I can still taste them Awesome!!!!! lunch was often a variety of different things Burgers, fries, pastas, Deli sandwiches to die for, I swear they put a pound of meat in each one yummy! (if we were feeling really guilty) fresh fruit but always followed by frozen yogurt or ice cream. We had room service one morning because we had a balcony but they forgot the OJ and they brought water for tea but no tea bag!!!!but it was a nice treat to eat on the balcony.
Of course we ate lots of stuff in between meals pizza the odd burger ice cream fresh fruit etc. When we were on the private island they set up a buffet table with salad, fries burgers hotdogs dessert we didn't expect this it was a nice treat, we thought we would have to pay for our lunch. the service was excellent especially in the dining room, very friendly. As you can imagine I put on 5 lbs my husband put on 12 lbs and our daughter lost 1lb!!!
Our cabin was awesome, we were upgraded to an ocean view from an inside and then again to a balcony from the ocean view ( I think the balcony upgrade was because we had a problem with Carnival on a separate issue!) To be honest I would not pay the price for the balcony but would definitely pay the price for the ocean view!
We have been on a cruise before and where in an inside cabin and we didn't know if it was day or night! this was our first cruise so we thought we were in heaven but now that we have experienced the window we would definitely not be able to stay in a room without one. The balcony was not huge but it was big enough for all 3 of us, it had 2 chairs and a small table. we had lots of space for all our stuff we put the cases under the bed and all the shoes in the floor of the closets and still had loads of room for our other stuff. The bathroom was great, the shower was very roomy and the bathroom was well lit up. There were lights all around the mirror out in the cabin as well very important for two females getting ready to go to dinner! the cabin was very quiet we barely heard any noise at all. The only time we heard anyone was on the last night and a couple of little kids were playing tag in our hallway, not a problem!
The entertainment was by far the best we have seen so far on our cruises. The comedians were so funny I'm still laughing at some of their jokes. the shows were great too, very Las vegas style, they did a 50s 60s 70s 80s type show and it was great! The passenger talent show was amazing!!! I am serious I would pay money to see some of these people perform! Out of 10 acts 8 were really professional, amazing. We won some money at bingo on the last night of the cruise, we never play the bingo's they cost $20 for 3 cards but it was worth it that night.
We did not truly care for our itinerary. This was way we had the problem with Carnival our original trip was canceled and they gave us another trip of our choosing, we weren't too excited about this itinerary before we went but we wanted to go on the Pride so we choose this one.
We stopped at private island in Bahamas salt cay, St thomas and St Maarten. The private island was great we snorkeled ate drank and were merry!!!! we lay on hammocks and relaxed. great!!! St Thomas was horrible! we all hated it, we decided this would be our shopping port as we had heard it was the best place to shop, wrong it was awful. We found it to be dirty too I know people who love St Thomas but we would take St Maarten over it any day, we definitely will not go back to St Thomas or if it is a port we will stay on the ship!
Now St Maarten we love, we have been before. we did a little shopping ( I got a replacement engagement ring!) my family took out seadoos while I drank pina cloadas on the beach, what more could you ask for! We walked from the pier to the port ( about 15 mins from pier to town) and then back again for lunch. we then took a taxi back to the beach after lunch and the water taxi back to the ship. it cost $3 each for the land taxi and I think the same for the water taxi. the gym on the ship was awesome but I'm ashamed to say we didn't use it even once.
We met some nice people (we usually do) mostly Americans. We met a nice couple from Ohio who were just engaged the first night on the ship! and a lot of crazy university students who were a lot of fun, very well mannered. Some days on the deck a 2 family group from Alabama would muscle their way into our space. They were so loud that I'm sure everyone knew their business and they would literally move your bed to fit theirs in even if you were on it!but you get that anywhere.it takes all kinds. I would certainly not want these people at my home!
