Carnival has it together as far as making money, and organization. Everything went fairly smoothly and first time cruisers would be well schmoozed or like it a lot.
It is great for someone taking their kids. They do have a good children's program.
Ship layout was very good and easy to get around. They did a very nice job with the 12 story copper colored foyer and getting around the shops and casino. Since this was my first Carnival, I thought the person was drunk who decorated it except for the foyer. But other people seemed to like it. I personally thought it took away from the ship.
Big disappointment for me. Not that the food was bad, it was just typical fast food, quickly prepared. Carnival knows where to save money and this was it. The LaPlaya Grill was poorly planned, and there were always long lines to each "different" food area. Pizza was good but they doled out one piece at a time whenever someone happened to be there. Dinners weren't bad but nothing to rave about. Dinner salads were sparse. Portions were small but waiters always brought you more if you wanted it. Supper Club was good but very rich.
I love fresh fruit...but that consisted of oranges, apples, bananas. The honeydew and cantaloupe were never ripe. We had watermelon 3 times, I think. Cheeses were sparse and thinly sliced..no variety. Just Swiss and Provolone.
Overall a C- for food. And it put a damper on the whole cruise. Breakfast items were ALWAYS the same on the Lido deck. You had to ask for bacon. No different eggs or potatoes. No fish. Restaurant breakfast was not much better.
If you like to eat, choose Celebrity or another Cruise Line.
We had an outside deck with Pukey Orange and Peach Decor. They must have been color blind. The beds were twin but so were the sheets and blankets. I couldn't snuggle with my hubby.
Decent space not great but enough. Bathroom shower on small side. Hard to shave my legs...lol. Don't drop the soap, or you'll be outside.
We did attend a couple shows which were ok. Staff was very nice everywhere.
There were 3 pools but all of them were small. There were none that you swim laps or come down in the a.m. to get some exercise. We are pool/sun people so we did enjoy the band and we got good poolside service.
We lost at the casino but we did make nightly deposits. Carnival has a card you insert into slots to give you "points" towards future cruises....quite sneaky to see who the high rollers are. No one hit big while we were there. I think 2 people hit for $1000 or maybe it was $250.00 if they were coins not dollars. Most hits were for $25 to $40. Not too many were on the $1 machines.
Ports were ok .... just not enough time on 2 of the 3 stops. But we enjoyed the ports.
It was a down-to- earth crowd. The staff was all very nice. We did have a good time.
Carnival takes cameo video pictures of the group during the week and sells video for $25.00 after the cruise. A good way to make more money.
I highly recommend it to someone who wants to getaway with the family. It's always nice to get away and relax.
