Itinerary: Mexico - Western

Overview
Very average. If you are looking for a very special experience, you'd better look elsewhere. We would not sail Carnival again.

Public Areas
The public areas were very nice. The pools were small but areas surrounding very adequate.

Food and Service
The food on this cruise was better than expected however, you only get water in the dining room unless you are willing to pay. No juices, no soft drinks, NOTHING...unless you plopped down your "card". The snack bars, pizza bar, and ice cream availability were all very good. The late night buffets were very weak...except for one. All others were just leftovers in the snack bar area. Nothing special at all. Breakfast is the same every day.

Cabins
Avoid the lower cabins at all cost. VERY NOISY!!! These are the areas that the crew moves about during the deep hours of the night. You can hear equipment and carts moving all night. There are tons of "bumps" and foot traffic all night long. We were disappointed at the lack of consideration for those of us trying to sleep. T.V. programming is VERY limited. Closets, shower and drawer space was fine. Beds are hard!

Entertainment
The pool side entertainment was absolutely horrible! First off, there rarely was any. Second, they knew two songs and had no talent. We thought it was a shame that they wasted all of the space around the pools where people wanted to be and had no activities or entertainment. Other entertainment was just ok - there was lots of "potty" humor and "R" rated stuff that they really should have eliminated. This had a tendency to make what could have been a classy experience into one that was lousy.

Activities
Two days outbound and inbound is too long without a stop. Especially with limited entertainment. Many of the activities and events were cancelled for reasons I cannot explain. This left the passengers wondering what to do. We stopped in Acapulco, Ixtapa and Manzanillo. The last two ports were very nice. Acapulco has "big city" problems. The Excursion desk misrepresented many of the excursions as we learned from the other passengers.

Who Goes
Most of the fellow passengers were fine. There were a few who experienced sobriety once and that was when they boarded the ship. After that it was on drunken event to the next.
