Carnival Cruise Line

MS Carnival Triumph

Your Rating:Four Stars
Reviewed by:Giancarlo Bruno
# previous cruises: 10+
Date of Trip: August 30, 1999
Itinerary: Canada/New England

Overview
On the plus side, the Triumph has a nice interior decor, good service and good food. On the negative side I think the Triumph is a bit too large, the balcony seats in the Rome lounge showroom are very uncomfortable-not enough leg and foot room. Overall I prefer the layout of Carnivals Fantasy and Holiday class of ship over the Triumph's. Our port of call Halifax Canada, was very different than the Caribbean ports of call we are used to, but very nice. The people of Halifax seem very friendly.

Public Areas
The Rome lounge was very pretty, but the balcony seats are terrible! Overall the interior of the Triumph is very attractive.

Food and Service
Food and service was very good. Did miss theme dinners in main dining room, they seem to have eliminated Italian night, French night, American night themes-I missed them. My big complaint was the lack of food trays in the self service dining areas of the South Beach Club and pool areas!

Cabins
Cabin was very nice. It is a bit narrower but longer than Carnivals Fantasy and Holiday class of ships. Cabin and bathroom of good size.

Entertainment
Cruise staff and entertainment was very good. John Heald, our cruise director was excellent-as usual!

Activities
We went to Halifax Canada. Overall we liked Halifax a lot, with its friendly people and clean seats. We visited the Maritime Museum ,Pier 21 museum and went shopping.Chilrens play room on 11th and 12th floors are poorly located and much too small for a ship that is so large. Seems that youth dept is under staffed for peak summer season, when there are many children on board. Children's area seemed much better located and staffed on the Sensation and Inspiration. Playroom was also closed too often in morning and afternoon when our children wanted to go there to play.

Who Goes
Fellow passengers ok. Not as friendly as they usually are when we sailed on other Carnival ships from Florida.
