What a ship! You could spend thousands of dollars on a land lover resort and not find half the pleasure of a Carnival cruise. A floating Las Vegas! Smiling happy people everywhere, and if we wanted intimacy, we just walked away. The atmosphere was perfect. From our room with a balcony view of the sea, to the multi level dining rooms and sun decks. This is a huge Ship with lots to explore. Bring a camera and some SPF 45.
The Triumph has a huge water slide, but hold your nose at the bottom. It's saltwater! Our cruise was way overbooked with a shortage of lounge chairs on the decks. This is an area Carnival could work on. The shows were better than Vegas and the casino was *****. My wife and I had the time of our lives and we have booked our second Carnival Cruise already. This time with the kids. We were impressed with the child care facilities. The kids would love Camp Carnival.
The food was awesome, cooked to order and right on target. The service throughout the ship is choreographed to perfection, and seemed like a show in itself. If you like to be entertained, book a cruise with Carnival. These people have it together! Oh, and your room steward will have a suprise for you each night.
You really can't go wrong here. The cabins are spacious at ship standards, but spend a few extra bucks on a balcony cabin or suite. The sound of the waves will rock you to sleep, and the sights and smells of the ocean should be enjoyed in privacy. We spent about 15% of our time awake in our cabin ;).
I've spent $200 on tickets to shows that fall short of these performances. Don't miss em! They are essentially free. You can't do it all however, so pace yourself and remember, the best things really are free. Relax and make your spouse the center of attention on this cruise.
Mix it up. Don't join a tour at each stop. You'll miss simple things like bumming on the best beaches, and shopping the duty free stores. You can rent snorkel equipment at Abanks' in Grand Cayman. I highly recommend it. However, some tours are worth the money. Find ones that do more than one thing. The ruins of Tulum were worth seeing, but the bus tour burned way too much time for us.
We have new best friends because of this cruise. We met at the Captains Dinner and hit it off instantly. They live about 80 miles from us in PA. Don't be afraid to mingle. You just might find a lasting friendship!
