Itinerary: Canada/New England
Unorganized, no communication to ease fears of passengers during Hurricane Gustav. Purser's desk personnel, snitty.
Entertainment Director jokingly referred to passengers as grazing cattle. Late arrival in port of call caused delay in getting to Boston. Paid for tour where sites were closed. Syndey, Nova Scotia, to quote Entertainment Director, "If you draw a big circle and look to point to the middle of nowhere, that's Sydney." Why bother stopping there? Mass pandemonium on day of disembarking. Crew member stated loudly to passengers waiting in Rome Lounge that this is why Carnival hates to come into New York. Lack of instructions from crew. Horrible experience!
Public areas were fine. Sports Bar played no sports on their TV. Suggested that they tape a game and replay it. Crew member said they hadn't thought of that. Pool and casino O.K.
Buffet on deck offered excellent selection of food. Paris dining area food offered scanty portions and other than
the beef, food was inferior.
Cabin met our needs. Shower was a tight fit even for a petite person. Closet space adequate unless going for more than seven days of travel. Room stewards noisy in hallways, talking loudly early in AM.
Shows were very good. Entertainment Director was like a Used Car salesman. During Hurricane Gustav, played feature
film in main lounge which was the same feature shown on cabin tvs. You would think they could find something new!
Crew members were not very friendly. Entertainment Director pushing tours like he was getting a commission on them. Lied about no taxis or shuttle buses in Sydney, Nova Scotia. Bingo cards way too expensive...$10 a card, 3 games for $20.00. Over-did Bingo playing as main form of entertainment. Fun days at sea were "Men's hairy chest contest, Men's knobby knee contest, Dance
instruction on how to dance like Austin Powers, etc."
Swim, sunbathe, eat. Anything else that was offered of interest, you only received a brief introduction to and then
was told you had to pay to receive the benefits. Stopped in Boston late. Delayed our tour causing us to be unable to visit
attractions we paid for on tour. Portland, Maine was wonderful. Tour to Kennebunkport excellent. Sydney, Nova Scotia a waste of
time. Take a taxi waiting at dock. Do not believe that there is no taxis or shuttle buses waiting at dock. They wait for boats to
dock to gain revenue. Tour we paid for at Entertainment Director's advise was a total waste. Never got to Halifax, Nova Scotia due
to Hurricane Gustav. Only received at $20 credit for best missed port of call.
Unfriendly. Everyone kept to their own grouping. Couldn't make a judgement as opportunity never availed itself.
