Itinerary: Caribbean - Western
The ship is very large, and there is a lot to do. Hard to find your way around for a day or two. Overall seemed to be too many passengers, even for its size, but still able to find quiet spots to relax. Shows magnificent; cruise director one of a kind (John Heald).
The Rome lounge is very impressive. Most seats had a good view of the stage. Casino is the largest afloat. Some areas, like the library, were a good place to get away from the crowds for a while. Pools were good also, but too many kids in them.
Food was good, but not great. Service ok, but again, not great. The ship had 3300 passengers, and only 1100 crew. Just too many people on board. Grand Buffet was a disappointment compared to other cruise - just wasn't very large.
Cabin was very nice. Good size, and adequate closet space. Bathroom clean and large, shower very adequate. Cabin very quiet and relaxing.
Shows were excellent. The 2 main shows were Broadway style, and well worth attending. The cruise director was a gem, and he made sure the other nights were fun also.
Stopped at Playa del Carmen, Grand Cayman, and Jamaica. Highly recommend going to Tulum (Mayan Ruins). See the Turtle Farm on Grand Cayman, and see all you can on Jamaica. Dunns River Falls is ok, but probably overrated - spend your time seeing the country.
On this particular sailing, there seemed to be a lot of kids - some unsupervised - clogging up the pools, playing on elevators, etc. I didn't see any staff ever discipline. Mostly middle class families, mostly baby boomers, mostly from the "frozen North" at that time.
