An excellent intro into cruising! This was our first cruise, but it certainly won't be our last! Pretty much everything about this cruise, (aside from our Travel Agent's mistakes) was more than we could have asked for.
The Atrium is impressive, to say the least. The Atlantic Dining room is spacious, (something one can say about most things on this ship!) and overall, the Victory is spectacular!
The food was top-notch! I was pleasantly surprised that the room service food was also excellent! The is a New York style deli on the Lido deck that has the best Reuben sandwich I've ever had.
We were in a main deck interior cabin. it was reasonably spacious, well appointed, and kept spotless by the staff. It was, however a bit rocky, but that I understand is to be expected.
Didn't go to any of the shows, but the on board band was good.
On board, we spent a lot of time, (and cash) in the casino. What time we spent in the room was watching the excellent choice of movies.
Cozumel: A pretty nice place aside from the shop owner who questioned my love for my wife when I wouldn't spent $300.00 on a bracelet. (Sheesh!) Also, be aware that sometimes, the locals will try to get you to do things you shouldn't. One shop keeper actually asked if we wanted any marijuana!
Grand Cayman: Definitely our favorite stop on the cruise! From Seven Mile Beach, to Hell (actually very cool!) to Stingray City, (Do this, you won't regret it!) Georgetown was wonderful!
Ocho Rios: I had heard that the Jamaicans were well, aggressive. What I heard was true, to a point. My wife and I went on a tour to a Botanical garden, and some shopping led by our tour guide, Natasha. She was very nice, and was very helpful. Dunn's River Falls was something else again. After walking through the park to get to the falls, we were directed on a different path to return to the bus. This was not good. Where we had to walk was through a gauntlet of VERY aggressive Jamaicans trying to sell lots of knick-knacks, who, at one point actually herded a number of folks walking with us into a shop. I hope that Carnival addresses this situation. One part we did enjoy was Margaritaville. Jimmy Buffett has a restaurant in Ocho Rios that is excellent.
The folks we were grouped with for dinner were quite nice, which I must admit was much better than I hoped. I would certainly like to see all of them again!
