Date of Trip: Jan 16, 1999
Itinerary: Caribbean - Western
We were afraid of cruising on a "down scale" vessel... But what a
pleasant surprise we got! Considering the fare, this old ship (40+ years)
had better-than-average cruise food, large rooms, and a very "personal
feel. Experienced cruisers will be surprised at how comfortable and relaxing
this ship and its attentive crew were. AND... Sailing down the Mississippi
River was an interesting treat, too! It was a pleasure to take a break from
the giant mega liners!
Public areas were very sufficient. Favorite spot among our
party was the forward Spyglass Lounge...
Good, better than average and better than expected. Service very good, but Bar Service hustling got annoying...
Very large room, plenty of closet space, this full-size cruiser fit
fine in the shower and bathroom. Noise level was no problem except with
juvenile adults who missed the manners demonstration!
Shows average.
Western Caribbean; nothing to say that most Western cruisers
don't already know. Personal tour we made up at Montego Bay made us like
Jamaica a lot more than the previous four sailings... Montego Bay is
cleaning up its act!
Fellow passengers typical of people you meet at home... Nuff said.
