Date of Trip: July 11, 2003
Itinerary: Mediterranean
The Costa Allegra is an intimate ship that offers all the facilities expected by larger vessels. Her interiors are in true " Italian Style ". The theme of the ship is the Painters of the Impressionism.
There is a wide range of public lounges, mainly located on deck 6 ( Degas ). The ship offers the large theater " Follies Bergeres ", the Grand Bar " Murano ", the Ballroom " Flamenco " and the nice " Crystal " Disco, with a glass dome. There is also a good casino. There were two pools, the after one dedicated to children. The jogging track and the fitness facilities were quite extensive. There are also a sauna and a roman bath at no extra charge.
The food served in the " Montmartre " main restaurant and in the " Yacht Club " Buffet was very good, with an excellent choice of italian and international dishes. The service provided by our waiter, Christi from Jamaica, was quite friendly. The buffets were always themed.
The cabins are of a medium size, but very comfortable. They offer a large bathroom, ideal for two persons, satellite Tv, safe and a phon. The outside ones have two large portholes. The storage space was excellent and the soundproof good. Many of the cabins offer third and fourth upper berths. The number of cabins with private balconies is limited to the ten mini suites located on deck 7.
The entertainment was good, even if not in Broadway style. The " Opera Prima Dancers " were very talented. There was also a spanish ballet trio, called " Mulero ". The animation team, mainly composed by Italians, was excellent.
The itinerary was quite interesting. The ship departed from Savona, near Genoa, calling at Naples, Messina, Istanbul, Myconos, Marmaris, Rhodes and Kithera. The two full days at sea were very relaxing. The many families on board enjoyed dedicated spaces and activities.
There was an international mix of passengers of all ages, with many Italians and Germans. I hope to see again some of them.
