Itinerary: Transatlantic
Starting in Guadeloupe, dispatching of the luggage was a catastrophe, with many suitcases damaged and delivered latest at 1.30 in the morning in the cabins. Ship is very clean and well maintained. Cabins are spacious and comfortable, but with an very poor isolation, you can hear EVERYTHING around your cabin, what your neighbors are talking and doing - sometimes this can be interesting. Food is cheap, primitive, tasteless (no use of spices) Italian Catering by "ZERBONE", no quality, not memorable. Buffets are very poor, as is the informal dining room. Dining Room (Botticelli) is 740 seats big, the tables are close together, so it is noisy and difficult to serve. 2 seatings, 18.45 and 21.oo in the Evening with assigned tables, 2 seatings on sea days for Lunch, Open Breakfast from 7.00 to 9.00. Waiters are willing and very friendly, but never trained, so service lacks quality. My Rottweiler dog "Wotan" apports better then them... Atmosphere is friendly and warm, italian style. Show program and entertainment is much better than the food, this is 4-5 Star-Quality on European taste. 7 Amateurs, but there are more than 4oo German Passengers, from 1284 and nobody of the Amateurs is able to speak German. - A weak point. Austrian Hostess IRMA, responsible for the German Speaking passengers is friendly and experienced. Pursers desk people are not experienced and sometimes unfriendly - another weak point. for children there is an extra room with TV, Video, a lot of Games and some experienced people to work with them - this is very good. Public Rooms are spacious, in a good condition. Two Pools outside, but only in the size of an good Bathtub. 4 Jacuzzis, but on deck 12 aft, so if you get out of the warm water, you get all the wind. Better they should be behind the funnel or in an sheltered area. Enough deck chairs with cushion pads, always clean towels available. Price was an special offer, so the value for the money is good.
All public rooms are comfortable and spacious. There is an walk-around promenade. The pools are bathtubs - poor. The casino is big and good.
The buffet on deck is forgettable, every 2nd. day the same. Only very cheap items displayed, no good dining room inside for buffet. The Dining room inside is spacious, food and service are primitive and forgettable. This is an very weak point. It is better to use the Dingo Room for Lunch, than the buffet.
The Cabins are spacious and comfortable, as is the closet space. But: They are very poor isolated, so you hear everything about and from your neighbors. Cabin maid (Mary Grace from the Philippines) was good.
The Quality of the entertainment was much better than the food and service. The entertainers are 4-5 star quality. This is the best point of the ship.
Ports: Guadeloupe, Antigua, St. Lucia, Grenada, Barbados, Madeira, Barcelona, end in Genova always Entertainment on board, trips ashore never booked, i did everything myself, together with my wife and in St. Lucia i had a group of 8 Germans to show them the complete island for 20 dollars each. The boards excursion was 88 dollars and they do not see more. Health and sports club is available, with experienced training staff. Children and Baby sitting is available the day and evening and on special request all time.
Passengers from Germany, Italy, France, Britain. Very good and leger atmosphere. This an good point of the ship.
