After reviewing some negative comments over the Internet, I was pleasantly surprised by the experience on the Costa Victoria. I would rate the Cruise Lines, excellent, as far as holding up their end of the bargain. Excellent food, service, and extreme cleanliness of the ship.
Public areas were extremely well maintained. Dining room very well done. Plenty of help in all respects.
Nightly dining was varied in menu; excellent service. Did not have one bad experience. Each day went to the buffet instead of the dining room. Enjoyed that very much. Each day the salad selections offered different delectable, such as bleu cheese, artichokes, etc.
We had a cabin on the main deck (where the dining rooms were). It was very quiet, but very small. Closet and shower were standard for shipboard.
Attended every show. Nick Weir, Cruise director, was very good at his job. I would rate the entertainment overall, just like a variety show. The entertainers were made up of the Costa regulars, so even though the shows changed, they were the same talent.
Stopped at Key West, very nice; Cozumel, standard for a Mexican town; Grand Cayman, excellent; Ocho Rios--disastrous. Dirty, accosted by taxi people and vendors. Felt for our safety. The cruise ships should avoid this port.
No: they were international, but mostly middle-aged, middle class. It was said by cruise veterans, that this "was not a very friendly group."' Totally coupled. No place for single adults.
