Itinerary: Caribbean
A magical ship, typical Disney. Great for adults, children and teens. The food is great and the dining experience is magical. There's plenty to do during the day whether at sea or on land. Activities we tried included an ice sculpting demonstration, behind the scenes insight tours of the kitchens and the theatre and a special guest talk from a Disney Director, with all of the latest information. There are three pools, health club, nearly a whole deck just for kids and teens, basketball court, clubs, cinema & theatre. The shows at night are not to be missed - full musicals with the magic of Disney, and not to be missed. If you're not a big Disney fan don't be put off - its not all Mickey Mouse but a great cruise in itself.
The central public area is the Atrium which, in all its splendour is 3 stories high and magnificent, with a Beauty and the Beast style staircase. There's a walk around promenade deck. There are three pools for kids (with slide), families and adults (with jacuzzies) - all are very clean. There are clubs to suit everybody - nightclubs, piano lounge family club etc. We especially liked the piano lounge. The theatre is out of this world, and has many special Disney touches to shows! The cinema screens the latest films, some of which are not out in the UK. Everywhere is clean, beautifully decorated and the staff are always very friendly and constantly willing to help.
For breakfast you can choose from a buffet or sit down service. We chose the buffet as it had lots of choices, and we were free to visit it whenever we chose. During the day there are plenty of places to eat - pizza, fast food, ice cream, buffet. Again we usually chose the buffet, which changed in style of food every day, and always offered something to suit everybody. The evening dining is in two seatings. Your waiters stay with you throughout the cruise, yet each night you rotate restaurants. There are three - Lumieres, Parrot Key & Animators Palate. The nights have themes from formal evenings to cultures from around the world evening, and a caribbean night. The food is themed accordingly and tastes delicious, and the waiters even dress accordingly, including Disney Magic in every meal with shows and displays around the restaurant. Staff are always willing to provide alternatives to menu items if desired, such as no sauce etc. Food is delivered quickly by friendly and excellent staff.
We had the lowest category of stateroom - an inside cabin. There was plenty of room with a double bed, and a convertible sofa. The room was a lot larger than we had expected, tastefully decorated, with plenty of space to move around in. The bathroom was large enough to move around in. Rooms have a TV, Fridge, Safe, Plenty of closet space etc. Each room has a hostess who is always on hand if needed and is polite and friendly. Each night the beds are turned down, the room lit up nicely and a touch of magic was added to our room with a sculpture made from a towel and a disney goodnight message.
We attended every show. They were excellent and could be on Broadway with the standard. Disney stage full scale musicals, with excellent effects, performers and storylines that brought us to tears with their magic. The theatre itself was wonderful. The entertainment staff are brilliant and of excellent quality.
There are children's clubs including teens, according to the age of the child. Programmes are available for all or part of the day, whichever you choose, and differ again according to age. The ports of call included St Thomas, St Martin and Disney's Private Island Castaway Quay which is out of this world with family, adult only and teen beaches and a wide and excellent variety of activities from kayaking to snorkeling and cycle hire. Disney can arrange activities at the ports of call if they are required. What we particularly enjoyed was a talk from a senior Disney Executive, and we got to go to the International Premiere of "Princess Diaries" which was held on board.
A range of people go from different backgrounds and incomes, which we loved as we got to know many people and made it a much more pleasurable experience. The crew were also excellent and we have kept in contact with some of them!
