Itinerary: River Cruise
The cruises we took on the DQ have been more than anyone could
hope for. If you are looking for a riotous swingin' time this is not the
boat for you. If you love history of the great rivers, like to relax, meet
interesting people and have a most friendly staff, this is it. The Delta
Queen is for older people, but not ancient. Met much intelligence. You'll
fall in love with the boat and people.
No pool. No casino. Just great food and relaxing time. The decks are open so one may exercise in freedom. The whole boat lis yours,
not specific rooms.
Food and very friendly service are top flight. Don't expect
your waiter or bus boy to be stiff necked.
Quarters run from quite adequate to tight. But there is no class
system. The wealthiest may be in a very narrow room.
Yes, they have a very fine band and solo performers. Don't
be lured into thinking that the star performers advertised are going to be
with you the whole trip. They come aboard, perform and get off as soon as
possible. I preferred the boat's band.
Do whatever you wish. I saw one chap work a jigsaw puzzle the whole trip.
Seldom went on deck. One may take planned trips at extra cost or be on one's
own to prowl. Be loners or make dear friends. It'sup to you. No one seemed
to "put on airs".
Yes,they are and have been welcome in our home. Everyone seems to be quite friendly and anxious to make new friends.
