Itinerary: Mediterranean

Overview
Horrible. Shabby boat. Crew is either rude or pretends not to understand what you are saying. Buffet food is cheap (canned peaches and orange juice), tasteless (lots of pasta and rice), repetitive (beef tongue served every day, leftover duck a la orange served the next day), weird (beef tongue?), or just dangerous (missed excursion because of food poisoning) Empty pool and cramped lounges. Refused those of us with EF Tours a sit-down dinner and treated us like dirt! Seasickness a common occurrence--ship's doctor ran out of dramamine.

Public Areas
Horrible in all respects. Carpets are frayed and dirty. Lounges are cramped, out-of-date, dirty, and shabby. Empty pool covered by net. Casino is a few slot machines and a poker table. Gift shop was closed most of the time. Piano, but no one playing it. My friend got stuck in one of the public bathroom stalls for a half an hour, before maintenance was called to remove the door lock.

Food and Service
We were only allowed to eat at the buffet, and it was not good. Salads were unrecognizable or bland. Meats consisted of cheap stuff, like chicken, breaded fish, hamburgers and hot dogs. Vegetables were not hot or tasty. Desserts were passable, but repetitive. I didn't trust the fruit. I contracted food poisoning from some of the eggs served at breakfast. Servers were rude, and wouldn't let you sit where you wanted. Maitre d' was very rude, too, refusing us a sit-down dinner, even though other guests had been seated.

Cabins
Cold air blowing from ceiling. Smelled strong diesel in the middle of the night, and cigarette smoke the rest of the time. Scratched walls. Bad pillows and pilled blankets. Small picture on wall looked like it had never been updated, and was from the 70's. Hot water was rare. Shower leaked all over floor, and paint constantly peeled from shower floor, yielding unrecognizable black stuff underneath. 220 outlet in ceiling of bathroom was inaccessible to my 5'1" room partner, and was a stretch for me, at 5'6." Very noisy room, with hallway and under-cabin equipment banging.

Entertainment
Lame. Disco dancing one night with outdated music. Band with a guitar and a piano one night. Nothing worth attending.

Activities
Nothing good to do aboard. Pool was drained. One ping-pong table and one small exercise room. There was a spa, but the lady erased my room-partner's reservation and insisted that she had never taken it.

Who Goes
Diverse from many countries. They were loud and rude, and no, I wouldn't invite them home, nor would I recommend this boat to my worst enemy. We were put on this boat by EF Tours, a company that books students and their teachers, at the last minute. We did not have a choice of this cruise, and were supposed to be on a different line, Louis Cruises. We deserve a refund!
