Itinerary: Transcanal

Overview
Holland America is excellent! Every ship we have been on has been outstanding both in quality and service. The Amsterdam is a beautiful ship. We Can't wait to do it again!

There were people of all ages on board. Very few children on our sailing.

Public Areas
The public areas were great! Uncrowded, spotless and very comfortable. We loved the Crows nest and the Ocean bar. The pools were beautiful and clean.

There was a walk-around promenade. It was very popular.

We had lot's of fun in the Casino. Played mostly blackjack.

Food and Service
The food was very good. Plenty of choices. Quality and presentation were great. Service was excellent.

There was a buffet on the Lido deck. It was wonderful! Excellent selections and plenty of it! It was actually more convenient to eat there for breakfast and lunch. It was quicker and lot's of variety.

Cabins
Our cabin was the exception because we had a penthouse suite. It was fabulous! Walk-in closet, whirlpool tub, separate shower. We did get a look at some of the other cabin types and they were spacious compared to other cruise lines we've been on. Some friends we met had a mini-suite and were very pleased. Heard a couple of people complaining about noise in their cabins. Not sure what it was all about though.

Entertainment
The entertainment was very good. It was what we expected. It was your basic shipboard entertainment, comedians, Vegas style entertainment, great singing. Everyone else seemed to enjoy it too! The lounge was always full.

Activities
There was a full range of activities on board. Something for everyone. We did a slot tournament and a blackjack tournament, went to lectures on what to see and do on port, saw Pearl Harbor at the Theatre. It could stay busy constantly if we wanted to. Shore excursion choices were great. In Panama city we did a helicopter tour.

At the spa we both had full body massages. Mine was good and my husbands was not. The spa is probably where they need the most improvement both in customer service and services offered.

We saw a few children on board being supervised by shipboard staff.

Who Goes
We met some wonderful people of all ages. We would love to have them over dinner. Most everyone we talked to were very pleased with their whole cruise experience positive and happy just like us!
