My first cruise was on Holland America's MS Veendam. I would highly recommend this to everyone. What an experience. I have never met friendlier people. This was a no tipping ship, but at the end you wanted to tip if you can believe that. I have never been so relaxed and so pampered in my life. There was not one thing I could complain about. The food was excellent.

We even had a pump go out aboard ship and were delayed a couple of hours to our next port and 1 night had really rough seas. No problem, the crew made us feel safe and happy. I am already planning the next trip and it will be with Holland America.

Holland America took care of all the arrangements to get us to the dock. There was no effort or worry on our part everything was done for us.

We stayed in a suite, cabin 009. It probably cost us $200 more than a regular cabin but it was worth it. I would have paid up to $1,000 more since we were able to board first, disembark first and everything was complimentary.

The rotterdam dining room was very elegant, 5 Star. The Lido Restaurant was casual, but had everything you could possibly want. There was also a poolside taco bar, hamburger, hot dog type bar.

There are activities all day long, something for everyone. If you get board on this ship there is something wrong with you.

There was a large fitness room with trainers with a special program, but I was not interested. however when I got home and found out I had gained 10 lbs I wished I had.

I did not take kids but there were kids on board, who were entertained from the early morning until late at night buy crew members.
