I loved the Westerdam the minute we came aboard, but it was not until I took subsequent cruises on competing, comparably-classed ships that I realized how absolutely beautiful this ship is.
The public areas were great! The cocktail areas were intimate, where you wanted them to be, and festive when you were in that mood. The decor was stunning over every inch of the ship.
The good was very good, although it tended to the bland side, probably in consideration of some of the older passengers. We particularly loved the "make your own taco bar" and grill, for those quick snacks while lounging pool side.
The staff was very attentive and cheerful. They actually knew how to make most cocktails we ordered! And, we enjoyed teaching them the difference between a lime and a lemon :)
The cabin was very nice. Go for one with a balcony! It makes all the difference. The bathrooms, in particular, were exceptional, when compared to others I've seen.
Fun!
We loved every stop - San Juan, Tortola, Dominican Republic, Bahamas. The excursions were great - and reasonably well priced.
This was a special charter, so this question is probably not applicable to the average cruiser.
