Food excellent, cleanliness good. Amount of sun beds and chairs on deck, insufficient, fellow travellers took them to their cabins. Entertainment more suitable to Butlins, not on an expensive cruise. Information on ports insufficient, they did not tell us when we docked at Civitavecchia that Rome was 127 miles away although it was featured in the brochure as ports of call.

Air conditioning was too high in all of the lounges. Pool very small and mostly too deep in the shallow end. Difficult to get a place in the whirlpool.

Le Bistro breakfast was poor unless you wanted a continental one. Bacon was uneatable every morning. Food in the main restaurant was good, service the first week was excellent but standard dropped the second week

Tea and Coffee facilities on deck meant that noise was experienced in the cabins nearby, also noise from the disco. Closet space sufficient for one person. Showers were difficult to stand under, and sometimes the shower room smelt very bad, especially in port.

Apart from two entertainers the entertainment was very poor, would have got better at Butlins, quizzes suitable for a nine year old.

Prizes for the games were terrible, a pencil given for a champion at the bowls, tee shirts were only given out after complaints, as they had been advertised as prizes.

Most fellow passengers were unapproachable, and not friendly. Would not have invited them to dinner. Would not travel on a Thomson Cruise again and certainly not on s,s. Emerald.
