Itinerary: Transcanal
We found the Lirica to be an elegant ship with great amenities. The staff
was fantastic. We loved the ports we visited and found the tours to be
well organized. Many international cruisers on board, an we loved the
experience. The cleanliness of the ship was apparent. The crew and staff
all friendly and all in all, very well run cruise. We would love to take
another MSC cruise next year out of Ft Lauderdale, and hope they come
up with some new itineraries. This cruise far exceeded our expectations.
All the lounges were beautiful and never felt crowded. You have many
wonderful choices of lounges to choose from. We did not like the lounges
that permitted smoking, but it never became uncomfortable. Missed
having a walk-around promenade deck, but there was sufficient deck
space to walk about. The pool area was fun with games and music all
afternoon. We do not spend any time in the casinos.
We enjoyed all the food, but we prefer to dine in the dining room. Both
dining rooms seemed to be equal in food and service. The buffet on deck
was also a nice option and we did try it several times. Service was good,
but could be improved as far as filling water and ice tea glasses,
including coffee. We loved the selection of food and the pastas that were
served each day. Also gelato at the pool deck was yummy. Friendly staff
in the dining rooms and our busboy, Dindin always tried hard to please.
We had booked an outside cabin and were on Deck 9 midship. Our cabin
was more than adequate, and the bed was extremely comfortable. We
had brought plenty of luggage onboard, and we were pleasantly
surprised that the closet space including the drawers handled all our
needs. The dressing table had drawers too and a wall safe behind the
mirror with more shelves. We unpacked in 30 minutes and ready to
enjoy the cruise. Fantastic! We are small people, and the shower was
very comfortable for us. If you were very obese you might have some
difficulty. The cabin was always quiet. The cabin was very clean and well
taken care of. Our steward, Mariana was terrific and made up our cabin
each AM and PM when we were out. Great service. We couldn't ask for
more!
One word - Fabulous. We went to almost every show and loved them all.
My husband is a bit more skeptical and hard to please, but he also loved
the show. Very talented staff and extremely well run and professional.
The cruise director, Francesco was amazing, and we loved hearing him
speak 5 languages with ease.
Don't know what child care services are available.
Ports: Cozumel, Puerto Limon, Panama Canal, San Blas Islands, Ocho
Rios
Nice pool and health club on board.
On board we enjoyed the lectures, dance lessons, tour briefing
meetings, cooking lesson, discussions regarding health issues, and
enjoying the solitude of the deck and reading a good book. At night after
dinner we danced and visited the lounges where there was entertainment
and walked on deck for extra exercise before retiring.
Nice group of people. If we had met people who lived closer to us we
would definitely have them over for dinner, and we did exchange our
phone numbers, etc.
