Itinerary: Caribbean - Eastern
This was our 2nd cruise. The first cruise we took, was the maiden voyage of a new ship (Paradise - W. Caribbean) - so we were extremely spoiled to big with. The Dream (E. Caribbean) was nice, but we expected NCL to be a step up from Carnival. We were a little disappointed, but would not hesitate to go again. However, we did prefer the Western Caribbean over the Eastern.
Overall, public areas were nice and clean. I was disappointed how smoky some of the lounges were, especially right next to the dining room entrance.
Food was good, but not great. This was our first cruise on NCL and I expected better. Service was good. The selection could have been better during the week - more of a variety. Lunch buffet lines were extremely slow because of layout. Only one serving line.
Our cabin was great. Level 6 midship. Lots of room under bed to store all luggage, even 2 - 30" suitcases. Nice seating area next to window. King size bed with fantastic sheets and comforter. Bathroom had plenty of shelf space. Shower was small.
We went to all the shows. Good broadway/theater type shows. Entertainers and cruise staff was very good. The show lounge wasn't set up the best. Needed to be stadium style for better view.
Shore excursion were very organized. Tour guides extremely knowledgeable. We took several tours and found most were worth the money. Buck Island snorkeling was fantastic. Regatta races were a blast. Pitons & Botanical Garden tour was beautiful.
We were on the last leg of a transatlantic crossing, so the majority of the other passengers were retired (late 50's and up). We are in our mid 30's, so at first it was a little uncomfortable. However, the majority of the passengers were very active and could out last us!! We met some wonderful people. And yes, we would invite them over.
