Overview
My initial concern on sailing with NCL was gone after we had been on the ship just a few hours. Absolutely immaculate, fine service, spotless cabin. Very good all the way around!

Public Areas
A smaller ship to be sure, especially in this age of ships with ice rinks, rock climbing walls, etc. but extremely comfortable nonetheless. The "Crossroads" area (Purser, Shore Excursion, Credit Desks) is beautiful. Lots of marble, woodwork, etc. Extremely tasteful and understated elegance.

Two pools are at the top of the ship, neither of which is very large but then again, it's not a huge ship. Both pools were never very crowded. The casino was on par with the rest of the ship, very nicely appointed and not especially large.

Food and Service
Freestyle, Freestyle, Freestyle. What a great thing NCL did by introducing the "Eat where you want to", "Eat when you want to", "Wear what you want to" concept! Food was very, very good in every restaurant we dined in. We were only on a three night cruise and we ate in a different restaurant each night! Food was always very good. Service was laid back, like a restaurant. No rush to get you in and out. Took a little while to get used to, but after the first night, I was sold on the idea. The food in all of the restaurants we dined in was equally good.

We enjoyed the buffet for breakfast, though we had options to eat elsewhere. A large selection of ready made food, along with made to order items as well.

Cabins
The cabin was small, but we had expected this so we were not disappointed. For a four day cruise, there was certainly enough closet and drawer space.

Bathroom was not large either, but it was a bit larger than what I have experienced on several Royal Caribbean ships. Our cabin was on Deck 8 and was very quiet.

Entertainment
We only briefly observed one of the shows as this type of entertainment does not appeal to me. The quality, however, seemed top notch. As good as, if not better, than Royal Caribbean.

Activities
We stopped in Nassau and then on NCL's private island, Great Stirrup Cay. We enjoyed both.

Nassau was good for shopping, which was all we were interested in. Don't buy at the first place you stop, however, bargains can be found if you spend some time looking for them.

Great Stirrup Cay was a lot of fun. Great afternoon barbecue as well!

Who Goes
We had a very mixed group of travelers on our ship. Very varied background.. everything from European travelers to midwesterners looking for a respite from the cold. We had a nice conversation with a couple from Illinois during the muster drill and we ran into them several times during the cruise. It was a much more low key group than I have found on Royal Caribbean.
