This was the second cruise out of Charleston for this ship. Outstanding points for this ship is the entertainment, the ship itself(very smooth sailing even in rough seas, easy to get around, seems to have a certain charm of it). Also one of the friendliest crews afloat. Food while very good, for me, was disappointed in menu choices.
Public areas are very comfortable. Lots of quiet places to escape too. Nice library. Internet cafe was in one of the main hallways. Nice areas to watch tv. NFL on Sunday guys!! Right next to bar so the beer was easy to get too and each side had it's own separate big tv so you could go back and forth and check out 2 games!!!
Service in general was top notch and super friendly. Service in the main dining rooms was slow but because of free style dining waiters were either hanging around or going like nuts depending on how people drifted in and out. Food was very good, but I was disappointed in menu. Not as varied as Carnival, appetizers and soups too fancy for my taste. For 4 nights the steak was the same cut, just with different sauces on it. Food in buffet was very good!!!! Freestyle dining ...I'm split 50-50 on it. I like that you can choose the size of your table ie.who you want to dine with, but I miss the shows the waiters put on. We chose to dine at 5:30 every night anyway so we had the same table and waiters, most of the time when we came out around 7-7:30 people would be hanging around waiting for a table....sometimes waiting was 20 30 mins. I wouldn't like that. We didn't try the Pasta cafe of LeBistro.
Cabin was nice(we got upgraded at pier to a Oceanview) so how can I complain Ha Ha. While slight smaller than some other Lines it was fine. It was on promenade deck and was very quiet. And 1 full size person could fit into the shower.
Entertainment was the big plus on this ship. The cruise director, Bruce Kidd) was excellent as well as the rest of his staff. The ships singers and dancers were about the best we've seen at sea. The palace theatre has such a low ceiling and is sorta small so no room for fancy props or anything like that, so the singers and dancers keep everybody mesmerized with their shear talent!!!
Activities were the usual things. Not sure about child care but they had the usual kids program going. Itinerary was Charleston-Grand Cayman-Cozumel-Key West-Charleston. grand Cayman we just rented a car from Cayman car rentals(walking distance from pier) and drove around sight seeing, went to hell and then swam at Seven Mile Beach. Cozumel we just got a taxi to our favorite, Naci Combo Beach resort, and just swam. Key West we walked around and took the Conch Train tour.
Since this was only the second cruise out of Charleston I bet 80% of the people were from South and North Carolina. GOOD THING they served grits for breakfast HA HA. Most of the people were nice and having a great time, thing the usual small percentage were grumps. Same as other cruises. Ya All Come Back now..hear
