Itinerary: Caribbean Eastern

Overview
The ship itself is one of the prettiest ships I've been on, however, I disagree with your opinion that they don't force the money issue. For instance, if you were to buy a bottle of liquor on the ship, you wouldn't receive it until the final day. The same with any beverages you would want to bring on board - all bags were X-rayed and things were taken away until the end of the cruise. The food was fair at best (menu selections were quite unimaginative). There were several issues with crew being rude (a problem I had never encountered in the past). In fact, I spent over an hour of the last evening with the hotel manager and head of security due to the rudeness of one employee. Needless to say, overall, the cruise itself does not rate as one of the best.

Public Areas
The pool area was very nice - plenty of deck space and lounge chairs. The disco was very small, with no bar stools. The dining room was nice, although the temperature was inconsistent throughout. The casino was small, but unimposing - very nice. Lounges were average. The main lobby was small and fairly crowded.

Food and Service
Food, as I said before, was fair at best. However, the Big Apple Cafe was absolutely one of the nicest "deck" restaurants I have ever seen. Le Bistro offered a very nice alternative to the regular dining room. All the restaurant service was excellent, as well as all the bar staff - very friendly and warm.

Cabins
We had upgraded our cabin, so we had a shower with a bath tub. Our bathroom was very nice. The cabin, itself, was a disappointment in so far as size, however, having paid for an upgrade. Closet space was adequate.

Entertainment
The shows were average cruise shows - nothing really exciting or spectacular. Of all the ship's staff, the entertainers were among the rudest. During an evening in the disco, the entertainers came in and literally pushed those of us there out of the way and completely took over the place. One member of the calypso band was so rude (he literally threatened a female friend of mine), I filed a complaint against him. The cruise staff was half and half - some were incredibly friendly while others bordered on rude.

Activities
Although the disco itself was small, there is a very nice size dance floor. The DJ (Michael) was excellent, responding quickly to requests (he even went on shore a bought a CD of a song we requested and he did not have). Lounge service was excellent. The pools and spas were very accessible. Ping pong tables were in an enclosed area, which, though nice since the balls weren't flying away, it was uncomfortably hot. The exercise room was very small and crowded.

Who Goes
Being in my mid-thirties, it was a nice mixture of both older and younger passengers. People were there for a good time. And although I was disappointed in the cruise itself, the people on board made the cruise nice.
