MS Norwegian Star

Date of Trip: December 20, 1998
Itinerary: South Pacific
Weather, sights and Phillipino staff were excellent. Food was very poor, entertainment very average and few activities. Beds on Promenade deck were youth camp standard. Long queues. Overall very poor value for money.
Walk around deck was a delight.
Only one dining room where the staff were excellent but the food never looked or tasted the way it read on the menu. Even when potato wedges were served for an first course, only two (or even one) wedge was served. Badly prepared 60% of the time
Cabin was excellent except for miserably uncomfortable beds and TV
and fitting that often didn't work
Supposedly top entertainers were unknown to passengers and once or twice seen was more than enough.
Activities almost negligible apart from art auctions to get more
money from passengers. Sarong wrapping and line dancing and soap carving
were exceptions. Ports were fine and a relief to get off and eat some real
food
Great fellow passengers. Probably because we were told it was a
four star cruise, this inaugural South Pacific cruise attracted very friendly
well behaved passengers.
