Have you ever entered a building, stood on a plot of land, or heard someone speak when you draw short of breath because something tells you that you are experiencing something special? That's the feeling the Norway gave me the moment I was greeted aboard. I'm a bit of a history buff, so I did my homework prior to the trip. I knew what to expect and what to look for. I was not disappointed. I am saddened at the apparent semi-retirement of the beautiful Norway, but I am proud to have been a small part of her history.
If you're trying to squeeze in one of her final voyages, then I'd suggest upgrading to at least a Pool deck suite. I believe its the best value overall.
The cruise staff was excellent. I did not attend any shows, but I heard that some were very good and some were not so good. I personally had a hard time stomaching the "lounge lizard" type of singers. I certainly couldn't understand why they insisted on showcasing these guys in the sports bar where us guys just wanted to sit around, drink Coronas, and watch ESPN.
I spent our time on St. Maarten getting married, so I can't rightly speak to this. However, we did sign up for the mountain biking excursion on St. Thomas. Friends...beware. The "mostly downhill easy cruising" is nowhere near factual! Our "scenic overlook" time was spent by the entire party searching for shade to take a much needed 10 minute nap. Extra clothes to change out of the sweat soaked rags is highly recommended. I'd also suggest on planning to spend more time at the ending point of the ride Megan's Bay then the one hour allotted. Skip the bus ride back. Take a taxi a couple of hours after that because you won't feel like moving. If your a fitness freak..have at it!!
My definition of the greatest cruising experience: organize a group of 20 or so of the most fun people you know. You can negotiate price to make it an excellent value and it certainly becomes one of the most memorable experiences of your life. Yes...even if its your honeymoon.
