If anyone has not made a trip aboard the Norway, please do so before she is no longer a cruise ship. This was my first cruise and my first visit to the SS Norway. I would highly recommend a cruise on the Norway to anyone that has never taken a cruise as well and anyone that has been on several cruises.
This ship was built during a period when only the elite would take a transatlantic cruise. She has been upgraded over the years and is a beautiful lady. She has 2 pools and 2 hot tubs, a nice casino, and the dining areas are unbelievable.
The food was perfect, as was the service. NCL has to be proud to have the crew on the Norway. They are all very friendly and do ANYTHING they can to make you happy. Everyone from the capt. down to the room maids were always happy to help make your cruise pleasant and memorable.
We had a suite on the Sky deck. With 4 floor to ceiling windows you couldn't ask for a better view to wake up to. The bathroom was every bit as big as you would find in say a Days Inn. Since we were on the upper decks the room was very quiet (well with the occasional love making noises that would filter in from next door)
The entertainment was first class. The dancers and singers were what you would expect to find in a Broadway musical. As for the staff, our waiter was the best! He was very friendly, remembered everyones names after the first night, helped with choices for those of us that needed a hand, and was happy to get you anything you wanted, be it on the menu or not! The rest of the staff was awesome as well, the cruise director and his assistant were a lot of fun.
On board there was plenty to do, we however didn't get into much of the "planned" activities. We opted to sunbathe and just relax. However someone was always close by to get you something if you needed it. The ports of call were St. Maarten, St. John, St Thomas, and the final stop at the NCL private island at Grand Stirrup Cay. All we did at the ports was enjoy duty free shopping, except the last port where we did some snorkeling in the clearest water I have ever seen.
We had passengers from over 30 countries on board and yes I would love to have all 2000+ people over to diner at my house. Everyone was very friendly and always enjoyed talking to you and making a new friend. The question of the week was always, "Where are you from?"
