Itinerary: Caribbean

Overview
8 days, NYC, St. Thomas, Tortola, Bermuda, NYC

Public Areas
Nice. Not exceptional. Pool deck - always crowded. Only one pool (also a "kiddie pool) - no adult only area (no quiet place, always noisy with music and kids) On Carnival - there is an adults only area on deck, no bands or kids - and a hot tub.

Food and Service
Terrible in the main dining room. Free style - no style! Long waiting times, orders often brought very late, wrong. Menus are boring, food - mediocre often cold. Butter for lobster or sour cream for baked potato delivered too late, cold. Have to request several times. "Cheese lovers lasagna" - with hardly any cheese. Amaretto fruit minestrone- a tired watermelon and cantaloupe fruit salad without a hint of amaretto etc.

Buffet - crowded, very busy, food - unexceptional, boring , few choices - compared to Carnival Miracle and Valor.

The NCL seems to be pushing passengers into the "Specialty restaurants" - which are very good, but where you pay $12 to 20 extra.

Cabins
Small. Cabin was dirty - garbage between and under beds. When we asked, steward cleaned it up, but instead of an apology, said that previous passengers were all teenagers, that is why it was so dirty.

Entertainment
So-so. Production shows - just OK. Guest entertainers - sometimes very god - Second City improv comedy - excellent, magician hypnotist - pretty good.

Activities
Ports - great places (see above) - but times on shore - very short, often from 10 or so till 2 or 3. So between waiting to disembark, and then catching a ferry or tender to get back on time, we only got about 3 hours on shore. It was OK if you took a tour, but there was no time to explore towns, walk around, shop....

Who Goes
Lots of drinking. Pretty much working class clientele.
